You’re probably wondering to yourself – why are women at risk? Are they going extinct? Am I as a woman safe in the world today?
Well, it has been observed and noted that there is a high prevalence of sexually related violence against women all over the world with many of the cases remaining unreported and unrecognized.
In most cases, terms like rape, sexual assault, child abuse and so on are all used to refer to this issue in one way or another.
Worthy of note, however, is that although all rape is sexual assault not all sexual assault is rape. The question therefore is – What then is this sexual assault? How can it be combated and hopefully eradicated and how can help be provided for victims to enable them get back on their feet?
This is where organizations and establishments such as the Women At Risk International Foundation (WARIF) come on the scene.
The Women At Risk Int’l Foundation was established to raise awareness and address the prevalence of this problem through the development and implementation of a series of initiatives, targeting both the intervention/treatment of these affected women, as well as providing preventive measures to reduce the high incidence.
